MEET OUR

occupational therapists

We have not invented a new kind of psychology. Rather, we use an evidence based tried-and-tested psychodynamic method. The only unconventional aspect of Evexia is that we were the first to provide these particular mental health day hospitals in South Africa.

At Evexia we aim to help everyone BE rather than to behave and achieve. We want to help you figure out what you want, what you feel, what you need and what you think, and not to simply live a life pleasing others. This takes time, which is why we run our programs the way that we do.

Our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) comprises psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, registered nurses, social workers, dietitians and trauma facilitators.

What does an occupational therapist do?

As Occupational Therapists, we enable individuals from all walks of life to function optimally in their activities of daily living (personal management, self-care, work, school, social interaction, leisure, and sleep), with an aim of promoting health and wellbeing.

Using activities, Occupational Therapists guide you to unlock and uncover your inner wisdom and facilitate change which ultimately allows you to unravel your innate potential and restore a sense of meaning and purpose to your life.

Information

Evexia’s mental health day hospitals are based in Menlyn and Midstream. They are the first of their kind in South Africa. Our teams are passionate about introducing a more appropriate level of Mental Health Care that is more containing than existing Primary Care (once in a while consultations with Medical Practitioners and Psychologists). It is also a level that is less disruptive than existing Tertiary Care, like admission to overnight psychiatric hospitals, often for extended stay.
